Based on the technologies for manufacturing semiconductor filters developed at our technical research laboratory, the Biomedical department evolved out of the development of filter products for the chemistry and biochemistry industries. Today the pillars of this business are 1. automated instruments specifically for genome research, 2. custom services for conducting sample analysis, 3. products relating to cell cultures, and 4. filter products for chemistry and biochemistry applications.
In the area of automated instrument for genome research, we are promoting product development that focuses on offering high throughput processing and miniaturization to meet current needs in the fields of human genome functional analysis and clinical examination. Kurabo's automated nucleic acid isolation system was commended as one of the three Sacred Treasures for genomic analysis. It also contributes to the clinical research field, with new applications now possible in the development of tailor made treatments designed specifically for the constitutions of individual patients.
In the area of cell cultures, we introduced kits for angiogenesis on the market to enhance the exploitation of uses in the field of regenerative medicine, a field which has come into the spotlight in recent years. We will continue to engage in product development and technical backup to effectively provide support for research in the field of biotechnology in which technological competition is developing on a global scale.
In histochemistry and pathology field, we launched our digitizing slide image system "AP-200" a couple yeas ago. This imager achieves easy observation and effective analysis of tissue slide image.
And we newly developed and launched AS-200 automated slide preparation system. This revolutionary system opens up the door to the automating series of histological work. We are going to expand our product lines for the basic research take one sterpfurther to medical field.
