CRENETTE Open Mesh Laid Scrim
KURAMAS Multi-axial Warp Knitted Fabric
KURAMAS Multi-axial Warp Knitted Fabric
Features Main applications
“KURAMAS” is attracted as the fiber materials for reinforcement on plastics and concretes
Fiber materials are expected as materials for fiber reinforced plastics to reduce automobile and aircraft weight, and for fiber reinforced concrete to improve seismic effect of buildings.
Kurabo Industries Ltd. has developed the multi-axial warp knitted fabric “KURAMAS”, which increase base material strength to any direction in comparison with conventional woven fabrics and our "CRENETTE".
FRP is made by laminating uniaxial direction sheets several times. “KURAMAS” is combined by multi-layers. It can be reduced the working time and total costs.
“KURAMAS” is used as FRP base material for wind-power generation blades, boats and aircraft, construction materials and sporting goods. Applications of “KURAMAS” will expand in the future.
Features of “KURAMAS”
“KURAMAS” is stronger than woven fabric in the same weight per area because straight fibers are laid in “KURAMAS”.
Fibers can be arranged diagonally in the required directions to increase the FRP strength.
The kinds of fiber and fiber content per area can be selected. Films or nonwoven fabrics can also be knitted together to add extra performance.
Fiber direction can be freely adjusted, in addition to just 0° and 90° relative to the two longitudinal directions like conventional woven fabrics. It can be expected to increase the shearing strength of bridge piers and wall.
“KURAMAS” can be knitted by glass, carbon, aramid and other fibers not only in the conventional weft and warp axes (0°, 90°), but also diagonally (+20° to +160°, -20° to -160°) to the longitudinal direction, for a total of up to six laminated layers in four directions.
