We reuse cutting waste as raw material for fabric. We are also developing ways to reuse this waste as raw material for paper products and plastic products.

    ・By linking with the sewing process, we separate and collect waste according to their composition and color

AIR FLAKE

Contribution to the environment

AIR FLAKE is sustainable insulation made from 100% recycled materials that contain used plastic bottles. We analyzed eider duck down, the ultimate natural down, and developed a proprietary structure that effectively traps air. The result is synthetic down with a warmth and lightness rivaling natural duck down and boasting high functionality, including quick drying. AIR FLAKE gives our customers the option of choosing "animal-free".

Denitration Equipment for Trigeneration Systems

    ・Purifies exhaust gas produced in cogeneration and removes hazardous nitrogen oxides
  • Prevents global warming
    ・In addition to the benefits of cogeneration (recovery of thermal energy), reduces CO₂ in exhaust gas by absorbing it with greenhouse plants

Overview

  • 1. Uses exhaust gas (CO₂) produced in cogeneration (for example, reuse of residual heat for air heating) to enhance growth of plants.
  • 2. Reduces hazardous nitrogen oxides (NOx) contained in exhaust gas to the atmospheric level.
  • 3. Concentration of leaked ammonia is 1 ppm or less.

Utilization of Renewable Energy

Kurabo has been focusing its efforts not only on saving energy but also on using renewable energy. In addition to introducing photovoltaic power generation at some of our company plants, such as the Tokushima Plant and Mie Plant, we have rented out space at the former Tsu Plant site and the former Hojo Mill site for use as mega-solar power plants. Furthermore, we have constructed a biomass power plant adjacent to the Tokushima Plant. By generating power through renewable energy sources, we are increasing the supply of stable power and helping society as a whole reduce CO₂ emissions.

Biomass Power Plant

The biomass power plant constructed in Tokushima combines steam turbines with the Engineering Department's fluidized bed boiler technology, which runs on timber from forest thinning. The annual planned power output is about 40 million kWh, which is equivalent to that used by about 11,000 average homes. Operation began in July 2016.
In addition to supplying power, this new plant contributes to effective use of thermal energy and energy savings at the Tokushima Plant by reusing the steam from power generation in-house.
